Fresh Start Feb

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 86.6kg
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 26.4kg lost

So, as I said last week, I started a detox. Well. That last until dinnertime - on DAY1!!! Yep, apparently I am NOT cut out for such a restrictive diet, even if it is only short term. The detox is apparently aimed at mums - but maybe not at mums who work full time, exercise 7 times a week, and raise 2 tornadoes (as well as a husband)? All in all it was an interesting experience, but something I would only try again if I was on a childless retreat on a tropical island!

So, I went back to regular tracking and muddled my way through the week. I know I had a few too many treats, and was 100% accurate with my tracking. My fitbit also stopped working for 2 days, so my fitpoints weren't even accurate!!

I lost 1kg, but I think most of that was fluid, and to be honest, it was gone after that first detox 'day'.

My biggest challenge at the moment is 100% mental. I am SO caught up by the number on the scale, that I just can't see past it. I know my body is changing, and toning, but my head just can't get past that blasted number. I so desperately just want to weigh 79.9 - I just want to see the 7 again!!! Hell, I'd just like to get back under 85 at this stage.

It seems that even the tiniest of treats prevents me from losing weight. I don't know what it is, but I've never been the type to live on salad and fruit. I NEED treats, and WW's has typically been good for me in that respect. But my body is being a biarch at the moment, and throws an extra 200gms on everytime I LOOK at sugar. Argh!

*rant over*

February starts today, and so does Fresh Start Feb. My goal is to lose 2kg this month (there are 4 Mondays left, that's 500gms per weigh in). That will take me to 84.6 - back under 85 :)

Goals this week are:
2.6L of water a day
10,000 steps a day

DETOX Day 1!

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 87.6kg
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 25.4kg lost

Yep, 2kg up in just over a week. Hoping some of it is water retention from TTOM and a couple of wines on Saturday night.

This probably goes against WW completely, but today I started a 7 day detox. Basically cutting right back, and then slowly reintroducing food groups throughout the week. The first 3 days are not much more than wholegrain oats, fruit, veges and then some rice on day 2 & 3. That's as far ahead as I want to plan right now!

I'm halfway through day 1, and so far, so good (easy to say that so early on)! I'm starting to feel a bit hungry (it's past lunchtime but I'm waiting for another staff member to come back so that I can heat up my lunch), I'm sure once I've had lunch I'll feel better. Dinner will be hard though as the rest of the family will be having something delicious, and tonight it's just veg for me....

I'm basically doing it for 2 reasons. 1 - to prove that I can, and 2 - to try and drop some of the bad habits I've picked up since the beginning of December. I'm hoping to do a bit of a reset on my relationship with food, as such.

I'm planning to blog each day for the detox, because I think it's important to record how I feel as I go through the process - it's very much a mental game, this weight loss business!

Wish me luck!

Goals this week are:
2.6L of water a day

Everyday I'm strugg-a-lin'

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 85.7kg
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 27.3kg lost

I don't even know what I weigh. I was at a STS on Sunday morning before birthday dinner on Sunday night and then the pre-TTOM madness of the last 3 days.

This week is meant to be my reset/set up week - I've bought I shiny new WW tracker book, and am planning a short detox starting on Monday. I've got my exercise under control, and I'm feeling really good about that, but my eating is just RIDIC at the moment.

Monday was my birthday, I didn't go crazy, but I did have cake. Tuesday & Wednesday were not my birthday, and I DID go mental. Cakes, hot chips, slices, pastries, pizza, ice cream. You name it, I probably ate it.

BUT, it was only 2 days. I can get back on track. I know I can. So far today I am doing well - but it's not even lunch time!! I've had a smoothie for breakfast and a scone and some cherries for morning tea. I'm going for a walk at lunchtime, and will pick up some cold chicken and I've got some wholemeal wraps in the kitchen here at work. Planning is key!!

My goals for 2016 are:
Get to 75kg
Only weigh twice a week
Do 4 walks & 3 pilates sessions each week
Track EVERYTHING & do it ACCURATELY
Stick to non processed foods whenever possible
Drink at least 2 litres of water every day

Goals this week are:
2.5L of water a day (all 3 days so far)
10,000 steps a day (all 3 days so far)
7 workouts (walking/pilates) (so far 3 walks and 1 pilates)
STICK TO MY POINTS EVERYDAY (I haven't even tracked for the last 3 days, so we'll start that today...)

Water, water, everywhere - DRINK IT ALL!

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 85.7kg
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 27.3kg lost

So, a week back on plan (with a couple of teensy slip ups) and I've lost a kilo! Goes to show, that even for a WW veteran like me, the plan works when you stick to it.

I really increased my water intake this past week. Before Xmas it dropped off, and over holiday break it was almost non existent! But since Tuesday last week I have been drinking between 2 and 2.5 litres a day. I do this with a couple of 750ml bottles, plus 3 herbal teas a day (no sugar!). I did bloat up for a few days, but since yesterday I think my body has started to even it out.

I did struggle with the water intake over the first couple of days, but now my body craves it. I'm less lethargic, and my skin is clearing up too. I measured my tummy before I started the increase, and will remeasure after a month to see if it's made any drastic changes in that area.

Other than that, I am loving summer fruit season - stone fruits and berries are my favourites, so I am in fruit heaven at the moment! And I feel a bit smug every time I choose fruit over chocolate ;)

If you read this, and have a blog you'd like to share with me, post the link in my comments - I LOVE following blogs :)

What a month and bit off track will do to you!

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 86.7kg
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 26.3kg lost

Yep, I gained just under 3kg! I'd say (and hope) a fair bit of that is fluid retention from crap eating and drinking, fingers crossed with a bit of willpower I can get back down soon enough.

I had some pretty trying weeks with my personal life, and food became my comfort (as always). I still exercised, but it did drop off a bit. The good news is I realised what I was doing and took control over Christmas - only gained about 700gms in the 2 weeks we were away.

We got back from holiday on Sunday, so Monday, being weigh-in day, was the perfect day to re-commit to the plan. I was a good girl  yesterday when we did the groceries for the week, and bought healthy snacks and wraps/ham/salad to bring to work for lunch - I've been a shocker about buying lunch since I started the new job!

Yay, finally a loss!

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 83.8kg
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 29.2kg lost

Week one, done! And I lost 1kg!! I'm sure it could have been more. but I fell off the wagon a wee bit towards the middle of the week. I ended up eating all of my weeklies, but none of the 50 points I earned from exercise, so I guess it balanced itself out!

This week started off not too awesomely. I ate WAAAY too much on Monday and yesterday. Need to reign it in for the rest for the week if I'm going to lose another kg.

On the upside, I found an awesome workout on YouTube last night, which was a Pilates/HIIT Cardio combo - and it was awesome! Kicked my butt too. So hoping to do that and maybe one or 2 others, so that I do at least 3 a week. I know that I REALLY need to amp up the exercise if I'm going to get to goal sometime before I die. I did it on the big TV in the lounge and it was great, and hubby has told me to make time for it each night - as in he will give up TV time while I exercise (shock horror).

Trying to keep the water intake up too (at least 2l a day) and keeping my steps over 10,000 (not easy when it's crappy weather, that's for sure).

Goals this week are:
2L of water a day
10,000 steps a day

Losing the last 10kg - back to good ol Weight Watchers!

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 84.8kg
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 28.2kg lost

Right! I've been faffing around for a few weeks, with no real sense of direction, apart from knowing I want to lose weight. My motivation has been swinging between amazing and non-existent, and the scales have been up and down like a yo-yo!

Top that off with an epic binge drinking session at our local Business Awards on Friday, and the not-so-epic bloat that followed, AND the realisation that Christmas is a mere month away!

Weight Watchers obviously tapped in to my subconscious and knew the right thing to say, because last night I got an email from them promoting the new changes that start next week. Well. I am a SUCKER for shiny new things, so with the bonus month thrown in on a 6 month plan, I was hooked.

So with a few clicks, I re-joined WW as a paid member. Only online though, as I don't have enough spare time (or $$) to attend meetings!

I lost 30kg with WW last time, and got down to 4kg away from goal before getting preggers, so really hoping WW is my saviour again and can help me shake 9.8kg, and teach me how to maintain, before my 7 month plan runs out!

I had already been really good with food yesterday, so today is officially day 2. I am going to work my butt off to get under 80 by Christmas!!

Yep, I Gained.

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 85.3kg
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 27.7kg lost

Yep, I weighed, I gained and I owned it. I knew I would be up - the combo of antibiotics, painkillers and comfort food were never going to let me off lightly. I am hoping that some of it is water weight and will come off quickly, but the scales have been acting like a yo-yo so far this week.

I had big sook about it this morning and had a sausage roll and rice bubble slice for breakfast. I then gave myself a big (mental) slap and reminded myself that that was certainly NOT the way to go about losing weight!!! I can still save the week and get a loss on Monday, but not by eating that rubbish.

My exercise has been sporadic too - only 2 walks this week, thanks to teeth/weather/work, but about to go for another one, so I guess 3 isn't too bad in the grand scheme.

I also have a new Christmas goal. It was initially 76.7, but the last couple have weeks have meant that that is not healthily possible, so I will be happy with 79.9 (officially in the 70's) by Monday 21st. So 6 weigh ins to go and 5.4kg's to lose. It'll be hard going, but I REALLY want it (sooooooo badly).

At a Stand Still...

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 83.7
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 29.3kg lost

No change in weight this week, in fact I'm a little bit up - but not because I've fallen off the wagon! I have an abscess above my tooth and I'm on intense antibiotics and painkillers. My body doesn't cope well with medication, so I'm pretty much doing my best impression of a 2 week old helium balloon.

And you know what? It has been TORTURE. I weigh every day. I know I shouldn't, but I do. Don't lecture me on it, cause it won't change. And I'm fine with that. But watching the numbers sit stagnant even though I could barely eat for 4 days as been tough. Real tough. I haven't exercised all that much this week since the antibiotics have me feeling like S.H.I.T, but I've managed to get a couple of walks in, and kept my steps above 10,000 most days.

Today is the first day I haven't needed painkillers, and tomorrow is my last day of antibiotics. Monday, the tooth comes out (I broke it months ago and didn't do anything about it, tut tut). So I'm hoping for a good loss the following Monday (16th).

Until then I just need to keep the eating healthy (just don't ask about yesterday, or today) and keep moving!

On a good roll, and soooo close to 30kg!!

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 83.7
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 29.3kg lost

As I said, I weighed in a day early this week as I knew I'd be drinking on Sunday night - a lovely loss of 600gms! It's coming off at a nice consistent rate at the moment, which is making me happy. I feel like I am on a good run at the moment - 5 losses in a row :)

I'd love to get under 83kg on my next weigh in. It will be the end of my latest 12 week challenge, and while my original goal for it was to get under 80, I faffed around for 6 weeks and lost bugger all, so I'll just be pleased with a decent comeback for the second half. If I get to 83kg it'll be a loss of 5kg in 12 weeks - not my best result, but better than putting on weight! Will be interesting to see what my measurements are too - I'm in smaller clothes than I was a few weeks ago :)

I think I'm going to take a break from the paid challenges until the New Year now, but I still have one going with some mummy friends that finishes on the 21st of Dec, so I have that to motivate me. It'll be weird not checking in with my trainer each Monday like I have been doing for 36 weeks, but extra money is always needed around Christmas time!!

On the NSV side, I bought a size 12 pair of jeans on the weekend - and they fit! So that was pretty damn exciting. When I was at my lowest pre-pregnancy weight I could fit a size 10. I still have the jeans from back then so when I can (comfortably) fit back in to those I'll be stoked.

Big push this week to drop the booze bloat, and get under 83kg by Monday (well, ideally by Saturday because 83kg is my end of October goal weight!)

Oooh and I almost forgot - hitting 83kg will take me to 30kg lost!!!

A loss?!?!?! And making 'it' work....

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 84.3
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 28.7kg lost

So after another week of training (and lunch every day at the Italian restaurant), little exercise, and AF in full swing, I still managed to lose 440gms! I honestly thought I would be up, or STS. I NEVER lose weight when AF is here, I was actually in shock this morning....

I'm REALLY hoping it's not an anomaly and that I continue to lose throughout the week as AF packs her bags and disappears for a few weeks. I have to be SUPER good this week as we have girls night on Sunday and that will involve drinking and nibbling, so I need to be 'in credit' before then.

On that note, I won't be weighing in next Monday, but I will weigh in on Sunday instead. I know the Monday weight won't be my true weight after a night of drinking, so it makes more sense to record Sunday's weight.

In answer to a question on my last blog - no I'm not doing PP at the moment. I'm actually quite enjoying the 5:2/generally just eating better, and I got a bit frustrated with paying for a WW membership that I wasn't making the most of. I don't have time to go to a meeting, and to me that was the best value of a paid membership.

But I am still on the WW website, blogging away because I have made some cyber-friends and I like to stay in touch with them, as well as share my story in hopes of helping others.

I'll finally be back to my lunchtime walking this week (started today in fact - a nice 4.5km), and I have been missing it horribly. I really think my worklife benefits from the midday cobweb blowout, and I know my mental health certainly does.

It can be super hard to exercise/eat well when you are a working mum, but if I don't do it now, when will I do it? When the kids have grown up and moved out? When I retire? When I die? Nope, now is the time, and I just have to make it work as best I can!

Milestones, Milestones, Milestones! Hooray!!

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 84.7
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 28.3kg lost

Even with being on a training course for the whole week (which resulted in only 1 pilates session and 1 walk) and eating Italian for lunch everyday (catered training course), I still managed to lose 500gms!

I'm super stoked because that means I reached my 25% goal, and got under 85kg :) :) :)

I did 5:2 again this week, but my 500cal days weren't very well planned, which resulted in going a bit over each day. They probably helped balance out some of the other days though. I need to plan my weeks better in general - dinners are all pre-planned, and breakfast is easy, but I struggle with lunch Every.Single.Day. Whether it's at home or work, I just can't seem to find the right balance between healthy, and keeping me going for the rest of the afternoon (oh, and not buying lunch every day!).

Lunch is sorted for me for the rest of the week (more training), so I've got a few days to plan before I do the groceries for next week - any easy work lunch ideas are appreciated (I don't eat Tuna, or any meat in a tin).

I also reached another milestone of sorts - less than 10kg til goal (9.7 to be exact)! One of my friends mentioned that I should start planning my goal reward - such a good idea, but I have no idea what it will be. Not clothes shopping - I have to do that as I go so that my work clothes don't fall down; not jewellery; not food related! So again, any ideas appreciated!

1 last week of training to go - can't wait to get back in to my normal routine!

Goals this week are:
Workout when possible
Keep the bread to a minimum
2 x 500 cal days

Non Scale Victories, and 2 very challenging weeks ahead!!

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 85.2
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 27.8kg lost

Another decent loss! 800gms! Pretty happy with that, and hoping I can keep it going for a few weeks.

I've just started a 9 day training course for work. This has completely wiped out my lunchtime exercise plans, and is also fully catered - at an Italian restaurant no less! It has also wiped out my incidental exercise, so my steps are suffering big time. I have to keep reminding myself that it's only 2 weeks - not forever. Hopefully it doesn't have too much effect on the scales!

I did another week on 5:2 last week. My first VLC day wasn't awesome, and I probably went a bit over, but Saturday was good, and I think it's definitely contributing to my losses at the moment.

I've had a few NSV's lately too - fitting back in to clothes, successful clothes shopping trips, wearing skirts to work and feeling confident in them. I'm really focusing on the NSV's lately, as they help when the scales aren't moving as fast as I'd like.

Not a long blog tonight, this training course has me exhausted!

Plateaus, breaking them, changing goals, and doing some research

Goal Weight: 75kg
Current Weight: 86.0
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 27kg lost

Finally, a decent loss! 700gms gone, and I'm hoping that signals the end of my plateau. It's taken me 7 weeks to lose 2kg, and 4 weeks to lose 500gms of that! So here's hoping I can get back to some regular losses.

Plateaus are a biarch. But almost everyone trying to lose a decent amount of weight will experience one at least. They are incredibly frustrating, and you really have to shock your body out of it. Either with a totally different, "I'm going to die" exercise week, or a massive switch up in foods. I had a VLCD (500 cals) this week and I think that is what got me kick started again.

I am, by no means, a fan of Very Low Calorie Diets. I don't think they are sustainable, and maintenance would seem impossible to me. I am, however, researching the 5:2 diet. I know some people who are fans of it, and after having my first ever 500 cal day on Saturday, I think doing it twice a week would actually be ok. My main challenge would be to not go crazy on the other 5 days!

So I'll do some more research (more than happy to hear any feedback if you want to share) and see if I can do 2 days this week at 500 cals.

I've also been doing some Monday Morning soul-searching (ruh-roh), and I'm changing my goal weight. The lowest I have recorded as an adult is 78kg. I set my goal this time to 73, because it takes me to 40kg lost and that sounds impressive. But that's a dumb reason to set it as my goal! I've decided to set my goal at 75 for now. When I get there I'll see how I feel, and maybe try maintenance for a bit. Depending on what calculator I use, 75 is either just over, or just under healthy BMI, but I think it's a load of BS anyway.

So, 75kg is my goal, 27kg down, 11kg to go.....

Next Mini Goal: 25% - 1.3kg to go!

Sunday, 20 September 2015

Today's the day I draw a line and start fresh (for the 10 millionth time)

Goal Weight: 73kg
Current Weight: 86.7
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 26.5kg lost

So I finally decided to properly weigh in, record it, and move forward. The bad news is I have gained 200gms since my last official weigh in. The good news is it's only 200gms, I'm waaaay down from where I was less than a week ago.

Some friends and I have started a Christmas challenge today! There's 13 weigh ins before Christmas day, and I'm aiming to lose 10kg by then (or as close as I can possibly get). I've armed myself with healthy snacks, water, herbal tea and an exercise plan. I've taken new photos, done my measurements, and drawn a line in the sand (ok, so that last one I haven't LITERALLY done - it's too cold to go to the beach!).

The photo here is my 6 weeks progress. Only 1.1kg lost, but a few centimetres here and there. I can't see much difference but others have said they can.

So, today I am 86.7. In 13 weeks I will be at least under 80kg, but ideally 76.7kg. I have plenty of motivation to get there, so I'm going to list them here so I can look back on bad days!

1 - 76.7 will be the lowest I have ever officially weighed as an adult
2 - The final weigh in is the day before we go on holiday to somewhere quite warm - imagine how awesome it will be to wear cute dresses and shorts in the super hot weather!
3 - I will have lost over 36kg!!
4 - My in-laws will be wowed at how much weight I've lost since they last saw me (July)
5 - I'll only have 3.7kg to my ultimate goal
6 - I am meeting my husbands best friend for the first time ever - I want to look awesome for that
7 - I can wear my old size 10 skinny jeans (currently a 14, but they are getting looser)

Goals this week are:
5 workouts
Keep the bread to a minimum
Cut out the coke zero (been a bit naughty with that lately)

My goal, my motivation and my mindset reset

Goal Weight: 73kg
Current Weight: 86.5
Started my journey 01/09/14 - 26.5kg lost

Just as I get the new motivation and mindset going, AF decides to ruin my life! Ok, slight exaggeration, but she really does throw a spanner in the works. So I decided not to step on the scales this morning. I'm having a "no weigh" week - because I honestly think it would do me more harm than good to see that number.

You see, weight loss is 90% mental. And if I see this big increase on the scales when I know I've been good, I'll slip in to a massive funk. The little part in the back of brain saying "AF is here, that gain is pretty much ALL water" gets drowned out by the massive sense of failure.

It's a dumb mindset, and something I have tried for years to overcome. So the measure I am taking this week, is to avoid the scale. What harm can that possibly do? Will one week of not weighing in cause me to put 26kg back on? Will it derail my entire journey and undo all of my hard work? NO IT WILL NOT.  Because it is only 1 week, and I will not let it throw me off.

I have set a wee goal of losing 10kg by Christmas (starting with next week's weigh in haha), to keep me motivated. We are going on holiday for 12 days, and it will be hot. And I'm NOT hiding in the corner in 3/4 jeans and t-shirts, I want to wear cute summer dresses (see pic), and lay out in my togs (my inner fat girl is already scoffing at me). I want to run around with my kids without my thighs trying to spark a fire. I want to *gasp* enjoy summer!

So there we go. My goal, my motivation, and my mindset re-set are all there.

Actions are stronger than words, so time to get this butt moving!!
